Is donating a car to charity worth it?
Are you asking if it’s worth it to the charity? There are good and bad programs out there. I’d ask how much of the proceeds actually get to the charity. I know of one local to me that only takes working cars and sells locally through a broker who takes little or no fee so most of the money from the sale of the vehicle goes to the charity. I’ve heard of programs that take so much in fees that the charity receives very little from the car.

Are you asking if it’s worth it to you? In the US, you can usually claim the value of the donated vehicle as a deduction on your taxes based on either an appraisal or a recognized source like Kelley Blue Book. Whether that is worth it depends on the sales value of the car, the market, and your personal tax situation.
