Which invention of the past was the most perverse?

This machine, called the “Iron Maiden” and built in Nuremberg, Germany, was used a lot during the Inquisition, which was not designed to kill outright, just to prolong the pain. The long and sharp blade was positioned so as not to inflict lethal damage to the first body.
The object of the machine was never the torture of the flesh, but the isolation, darkness and silence that existed between the sharp edges.
In the Middle Ages, it was sadism in its purest version. For the inquisitors, physical pain was believed to be liberating and purifying from sin.
Inside the iron coffin, which was filled with stakes, the victim was freed from his sins.
Another curious thing is that the world famous band “Iron Maiden” was inspired by this machine.
